Ran into your website quite by accident. Sorry, I don’t know any Ulmer’s, but we are related to Samuel Minge/Menge who was married to Anna Weich. Samuel and Anna are my husband’s great grandparents. We are looking to share what information we have for information on Samuel’s parents; Johan Minge/Menge and Justina Krasin.
I am daughter of Barbara Elizabeth Olmer. Her father was Walter Paul Harry Olmer, and his father was Paul Olmer. Paul came here from Germany. According to his death certificate his father was Ignatius and his mother Pauline.
I don’t know how close or distant our Olmers might be but I have found dead-ends everywhere I look.

thanks for your information Becky
I stumbled on your website as I was doing my own geneaology research. Peter and Katherine Gemar were my 2nd Great Grandparents, and Peter and Sophie Gemar were my Great Grandparents, so I do have information going down on that branch if you are interested. This is all so interesting!
hi Michelle,
Yes we’d be interested in your info, please email me at jeff@meland.org
Thank you!
Jeff
I’m the grandson of one of Alfred’s nephews, and I came across this site. I just want to say that this site must have been a huge undertaking and it has not gone unappreciated–It was like finding the holy grail of genealogy research for the Ulmer family. I’m curious how you were able to find the information going so far back, especially when it becomes generation after generation living in a small village in Germany.
I was thinking a lot about Olaf Hallerud lately, and I googled his name and found your website. I was very sorry to learn that Olie had died. When I was a Captain in the AF we worked in the same office at the Pentagon (AF Data Services Center) and we socialized occasionally with him and Liza. I remember one dinner at the Officer’s Club with baby Kirsten in her carrier and I was so impressed with what a good, happy baby she was. It was clear Olie was completely smitten with her. When she died, I was 9 months pregnant with my first child and I didn’t have the courage to attend the funeral, which I’ve always regretted. But I just couldn’t face it. I think of Olaf every time I meet someone whose child has died (which happened recently) and it brings back the memories. I was hoping for a happier outcome for him but I’m sorry it was not to be. I thought his family would want to know that there are probably many out there besides me who remember him and wished him well. He was a very well liked person in the office and we all suffered with him and Liza.
Thank you for your comments Petrina
My great grandmother was Lidia Ulmer. My grandmother was Lilly Ulmer Bakkegard.
Thanks Scott, If you have more info you’d like to share we’d be happy to integrate it with our geneology info.
Hi, Jeff:
My name is Elizabeth Kaiser (nee Maier) and my great grandfather was Peter Berreth (m. Pauline SAUTER); my grandmother was one of their 3 daughters, Ida. They had 4 children: Peter, Jr., Frieda, Ida & Esther. I came across this site in my search about the family tree. Catharina Mauch (m. Jacob Berreth) was my great-great Grandmother. I still make an apples & noodles casserole my grandmother told me was Catharina’s recipe, Anyway, I may be able to add some birth/death dates for the children of Peter Berreth (m. Pauline SAUTER in 1901) to your listing, I would like to follow the line of information you have assembled as well. Wonderful job on the site. Best regards, Elizabeth
