Biography

Jacob left Russia in June and arrived in the US on July 24, 1876.Hewas employed on the Peter Billigmeier farm near Scotland, DakotaTerritory. When Peter drowned, Jacob married his widow, Christina(Mauch)Billigmeier. Jacob filed his declaration of intent on November13, 1877.

Memories from Granddaughter, Anna (Ulmer) Stroh, Emde relates thatgrandpa walked with a cane and was very good to the kids in thefamily.He was also a good story teller and had a great sense of humor.

Memories from granddaugnter, Mildred Ulmer Gebhardt: " I rememberGrandpa used to pass out white wintergreen mints to us kids when helived at our house. After Grandma died, he stayed with us even thoughthe house was small and crowded."
