Biography

Katharina Mauch came to the US in 1893. Her death certificate saysshe died of senility, gastro enteritis and congenital heart failure.Her granddaughter, Alice Mauch Petitt says that her grandparents werewonderful and always had something special for the kids even thoughthey were poor. They had a goat to provide milk and her grandmothermade cheese - even before it was fashionable to eat goat cheese. Shealso says that she still uses her grandmother's recipe for"Pfefferneuse".
