Hulda was one of a family of 10 children and was born at the familyfarm home 7 miles east of Lehr, North Dakota. She attended localruralschool where she received her elementary education and grew towomanhood in the vicinity. After her marriage to Harold, they madetheir home in the Fredonia/Lehr area until 1941 when they moved to afarm 6 miles south of Gackle. In 1948 they moved into Gackle whereHulda did various jobs around town and also worked in the kitchen atthe Gackle Public Schools for 10 years. After Harold died, shecontinued to live in Gackle until she entered the Hi-Acres Manor inJamestown in 2001.
