Andreas was seven years old when he was helping a family close totheMissouri River. It was winter when he took a couple of horses downto the river to drink in a hole they had carved out in the ice. Thehole had a film of ice on top, and Andreas fell in. His body wasfoundin the spring of the year hanging on a tree downstream. He wasburied around Fort Yates somewhere as the family was too poor to goget the body. (from Pauline Munsch Nelson)
